Begin your exploration in Namsai, home to the awe-inspiring Golden Pagoda, where the calm Buddhist surroundings offer a peaceful start to your journey.

Next, immerse yourself in the wilderness of Namdapha National Park, a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. With its diverse ecosystems and rare species, it’s the ideal place for thrilling treks and wildlife spotting.

As you travel towards Roing, pause at Parshuram Kund, a renowned pilgrimage site with deep spiritual significance. Roing itself is a hidden gem, where the ancient Bhishmaknagar Fort and Sally Lake offer glimpses into Arunachal’s history and natural beauty.

End your expedition in Pasighat, the oldest town in the state, which provides the perfect conclusion to your journey through Arunachal Pradesh’s captivating landscapes, rich traditions, and remarkable heritage. Whether you’re trekking through lush forests, learning about local cultures, or simply enjoying the tranquility, this itinerary offers an experience like no other.

Your Day by Day Journey
Day 1, 2 and 3: Enroute to the most northerly rain forest on the planet
  • Arrive at Dibrugarh and drive to Namsai
  • Visit 100-years old Tibetan Settlement
  • Meet the basket weavers and local artisans

Day 1Arrival in the land of Dawn-lit Mountains

We will pick you up from the Dibrugarh airport and leave for Namsai (Arunachal Pradesh) which is approximately 3 hours journey from Dibrugarh. You will have traditional Tai Khampti Cuisine for lunch at Boathouse Café. In the evening, visit one of the most important Buddhist Temple in the area Kongmu Kham also known as Golden Pagoda built in Burmese architectural style. Located in the foothills of eastern Himalayas of Patkai Range Golden Pagoda is also known as ‘Little Burma of India’. Overnight stay in Namsai.

Day 2Drive to Miao: Gateway to Namdapha National Park

Post breakfast, you will leave for Miao Village which is the base hub for travelers visiting Namdapha National Park. A 4 hour journey from Namsai will take you the most exotic bio-diversity hotspots in Eastern Himalayas, Namdapha. In the evening, explore the Tibetan Handloom Centre in Miao, known for its GI-tagged handmade carpets. Learn about the weaving process and take home unique handmade souvenirs. Spend rest of your evening with the local family at Chakma Village exchanging stories and culture over scrumptious dinner.

Day 3Exploring - Namdapha National Park

Post breakfast in your homestay at Namdapha, you will be meeting the local basket weaver in the village. From watching them closely to making your own small bamboo baskets while sipping tea will be the highlight of the day. After the session get ready to explore the rich wildlife of Namdapha National Park. It is the only national park in the world to have the four feline (cat related) species of big cats; Tiger and 3 kinds of leopards. Enjoy a refreshing short boat ride in the serene Deban Valley. Namdapha National Park is a paradise for bird and wildlife enthusiasts, known for its diverse species. If you’re lucky, you might even spot the elusive Red Panda. Overnight stay in Chakma Village.

Day 4 and 5: Immersing in the culture of Tai Khampti Tribe

Day 4Miao to Chongkham Village

Today, we will explore the cultural richness of Chongkham, meaning “Golden Temple,” named for its gold-plated temple roof that glows beautifully under the morning sun. Home to around 2,000 families, Chongkham is one of the largest Khamti villages in Namsai district. En route, we’ll visit the serene Empong Village, known for its centuries-old Vihara, considered a place of miracles. A traditional lunch awaits us, followed by visits to the Tai Khampti Museum, Lathao Buddha Statue, Empong Monasteries, and the Bana Meditation Center. Immerse yourself in local culture with hands-on experiences like cultural dance practices, natural dyeing techniques, and traditional cooking sessions, making this day a perfect blend of history, art, and community engagement.

Day 5On your way to Lohit Valley - Wakro

Post breakfast, you will explore the highlights of Lohit District. Start with a visit to Parshuram Kund, known for its annual Mela from January 13th to 15th and the legend of Parshuram, who is said to have cleansed his sins here, creating the Brahmaputra River. Visit the Wakro Green Tea Estate to learn about tea cultivation, followed by the Miju and Digaru Mishmi tribal villages, where you can see local traditions and lifestyles. You will stop by Apna Library by Uncle Moosa, a local initiative promoting education. End the day at Lohit Viewpoint, enjoying the views of the surrounding landscape. Overnight stay in a homestay in Wakro.

Day 6 to 9: Embark on a journey to wilderness and local experiences

Day 6Immerse yourself in Idu Mishmi traditions

Start your day with a hearty breakfast while taking in the stunning mountain views. Post breakfast, embark on a scenic five-hour journey toward lower Dibang Valley, stopping en route at Bhismaknagar Village, known for its historic fort, once the political capital of the Chutia Kingdom. Visit RIWATCH Museum, a significant initiative preserving the centuries-old artifacts and cultural heritage of Arunachal’s tribes, and the Idu Shaman Museum, which offers insights into the rituals and traditions of the Idu Mishmi Tribe. Engage with the local crafts, witness shaman rituals, and round off the day with a visit to the famous Café for a coffee. Explore other local cafes in the evening and indulge in fusion delicacies before settling into a boutique homestay for a comfortable night.

Day 7Exploring Pasighat

Start your journey in Pasighat, the oldest town in Arunachal Pradesh, located by the Siang River. The town is known for its hanging bridges made of cane and wood, offering a mix of adventure and beauty. Pasighat is home to the Adi and Pasi tribes. Visit Kekar Monying, a historic site where the Adi people fought against the British in 1911. A short trek will take you to the cliff, a place of great significance. On the way back, stop at Sirki Waterfall for a peaceful break. You can also explore orange and pineapple orchards, enjoy Ayurvedic healing, and have tea by the Siang River. Overnight stay in Pasighat.

Day 8On your way back to Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh lies near to the tea estates and Brahmaputra river, making it a perfect spot to end your trip and soak in all the experiences you have had. Post breakfast, the journey from Pasighat via Jonai will lead you to Dibrugarh. It is a scenic 4 hours drive along the mighty Brahmaputra River. In the evening, spend some peaceful moments at Bogi Beel, India’s longest rail-cum road bridge, watching the sun disappearing in the Brahmaputra River while sipping tea on a boat. Stay in a traditional tea estate homestay and enjoy the comfortable stay.

Day 9Departure

After a refreshing stay in Dibrugarh Homestay, wake up early and head for Maguri Beel, the most beautiful site in upper Assam. Buckle yourself up for an hour ride on a small boat with the local fisherman. Embrace the beauty when it’s added with pink water lilies floating on water and the boat rides through them. If you are keen birder, this is the haven for witnessing the unique birds migrated from central Asia and different parts of the world. Post breakfast, depart for airport and fly back to your destination.
