View of Da River in the Muong community
Lake View Homestay is located in Tien Phong Commune, overlooking the Da River. The village is made up of 40 households, and all of them are Muong Au Ta, a small branch of the Muong community with special costumes and culture. A Mother-Daughter duo put forward this traditional background for tourists to experience. Both of them are trained to offer hospitality services and create a safe environment for solo women travellers.
Trang and her mother, Ms. Dinh Thi Yeu, are active members of the CBT project in Da Bia Village. After a period of time working as the project coordinator and attending many training sessions, Trang and her family bravely opened a homestay for themselves. The young owner is proud of her hometown’s history, culture, and landscape. She wants to preserve and promote their cultural identity and contribute more to the development of sustainable tourism in the area.
Da Bia is located on the lake of Da River, fish dishes are also a specialty here. The hosts have been trained in cooking so that they can cook some dishes suitable for foreigners and vegetarians/vegans.
Visitors can join in many activities: kayaking, short walking to explore Muong Au Ta culture, visit fish cage, art performances, cooking class, handicraft class, swimming at Hoa Binh lake. Stay a couple of days in the village to do all the activities and spend a relaxed day enjoying the beautiful view of the river.

Guests like to eat our Ladakhi food. They say it is delicious, even when it is prepared by an elderly ama (mother) like me. I always make sure I serve them the cleanest and healthiest food. My husband is a copper artist. When guests leave us, they say ‘Julley’, and hug us. It makes us feel happy.
I became a Mountain Homestay Host in 2018, and I have hosted many travellers since then. Running a homestay has helped me and my family a lot. Not only is the solar set up in our house useful for us, but even travellers prefer to stay in our homestay because of it.
The training we got in astronomy turned out to be a life-changing experience for our village. I felt happy and proud while mapping the position of the planets and sharing the secrets of the universe with the tourists. Tourists told me that even they didn’t know so much about the dark skies!
