Maney Eco Homestay is located in Thiksey Village, Leh Ladakh, approximately 20 km from Leh and around 40 minutes from Leh Airport via the Leh–Kharu highway. Situated in the scenic Indus Valley, the homestay offers travellers an opportunity to experience traditional Ladakhi village life while staying close to some of the region’s important cultural and historical sites.

Thiksey is known for the historic Thiksey Monastery, one of the most significant Gelugpa monasteries in Ladakh, founded under the teachings of the great Buddhist reformer Tsongkhapa. Surrounded by agricultural fields, mountain landscapes and traditional settlements, the village provides a peaceful setting for travellers interested in culture, local experiences and rural life in Leh Ladakh.

The Space

The homestay is part of a traditional Ladakhi family home overlooking the landscapes of the Indus Valley. Guests can experience everyday village life through interactions with the host family, participation in farming activities and local cultural experiences.

Yangchan has been hosting travellers for many years and warmly welcomes guests into her family home in Thiksey Village. She is an excellent cook and baker, known for preparing traditional Ladakhi meals and sharing her knowledge of local teas, including buckwheat, walnut and nettle tea. Alongside hosting, she continues her family’s farming traditions and enjoys introducing guests to Ladakhi culture, village life and local food practices.
