Nyoma Eco Residence

Experience high-altitude mountain living at Nyoma Eco Residence. Located at an elevation of 14,000 feet in the serene Changthang region, the homestay sits centrally within Nyoma Village, offering a warm welcome and expansive views of the surrounding farms. Surrounded by open landscapes and rare wildlife, it serves as a perfect, quiet stopover for travellers heading towards Chushul, Karzok and Hanle.

The space

The homestay features two private guest rooms that are physically separated from the host’s main living area, ensuring a quiet and private stay. Each room is comfortable, simple and meticulously clean, offering pleasant views of a small garden.

Stay

The stay provides a calm and authentic local experience away from large crowds, offering a peaceful environment to help guests acclimatize to the high mountain air.

Meals

Meals are prepared using fresh ingredients cultivated directly in the village. The host is an excellent cook and is happy to accommodate dietary preferences.

• Breakfast featuring khambir (local bread) with homemade butter and traditional butter tea

• Authentic Ladakhi dinners such as skyu and thukpa

• Simple Indian comfort food including roti, dal and rice upon request

Bathroom

Washrooms feature an attached western-style toilet with running hot water during the summer months. In the winter, when the weather is freezing and water turns to ice, guests use a traditional dry toilet optimally suited for the extreme cold.

Outdoor area

The home is surrounded by wide valley views, local farms and a dedicated garden space. Guests can enjoy the fresh mountain air, relax in the small garden directly outside their rooms or take peaceful walks along the quiet paths of Nyoma Village.

Host

Your host, Jigmet, is a warm and welcoming individual deeply connected to her village and its history. She maintains a very warm and exceptionally clean home, possessing extensive knowledge of local farming and traditions. She loves sharing stories with guests to pass on the rich history of her people.
