Astro Retreat at Pangong Lake

Located in Maan Village, Astro Retreat at Pangong Lake is situated approximately 163 km from Leh, taking around 6–7 hours via Chang La Pass. The homestay is positioned along the shores of Pangong Lake at an altitude of about 14,000 feet, offering access to both the lake and the surrounding Changthang region. The location also lies on the route towards Chushul, a border village associated with the 1962 Sino-Indian War and the Rezang La area.

Maan Village is part of the larger Pangong region, known for high-altitude landscapes, pashmina herding communities and limited light pollution, making it suitable for astronomy-based experiences.

Host

Your host, Targias, is a retired school teacher with roots in the Changthang region. He shares knowledge about local history, culture and traditional lifestyles. His family manages the homestay while continuing their daily activities, offering insight into life in Maan Village.
