Tragias, now retired, spent his life teaching local children and continues to be a beloved figure in the village. His roots go back to a time when his family lived a nomadic life across the Changthang region and he has countless stories to share about those simpler days, long before Pangong became a tourist destination. His wife, warm and welcoming, often speaks about local beliefs and the traditional understanding of astronomy passed down through generations.
Staying with them feels like stepping into a living storybook of Ladakh. Be sure to ask them to show you their 100-year-old ancestral home, its rooms and old farming tools quietly hold the memories of a time gone by.
