About your accommodation
Located in Kungyam Village, Kungyam Eco Homestay is situated approximately 90 km from Leh, taking around 2 hours by road on the route towards Hanle and Tso Moriri. Set within the Rong region of Ladakh, the homestay is positioned inside a valley with streams flowing through the village and traditional mud houses built on terraced slopes. The location provides access to remote landscapes, village life and nearby cultural sites such as the 108 stupas.
Kungyam Village lies slightly off the main road, offering a quieter setting while still being connected to routes leading towards eastern Ladakh, including Hanle and Tso Moriri.
The space
The homestay is set within a traditional village environment surrounded by mountains and small glacier-fed streams. It is part of a family home designed to host travellers while continuing everyday village activities. The setting provides access to open landscapes, farmland and nearby walking trails.

Kungyam Homestay is hosted by Nawang Lungtok, an army veteran and his wife. The homestay offers two cozy rooms with views of either the village or surrounding mountains. After retiring from the army, Nawang became a full-time farmer, practicing yoga and supporting his community whenever needed. A natural storyteller and pet lover, he enjoys hosting travelers, guiding them on village walks, introducing them to traditional water mills and sharing the local way of life with shepherds and agricultural practices.
