Pidmo Eco Homestay

Located just a half-hour drive from Padum, Pidmo Eco Homestay offers a stay close to nature in a quiet village on the banks of the Zanskar River. Consisting of only 20 traditional Ladakhi homes where historical farming practices continue, the homestay is surrounded by high mountains, wild juniper trees and ancient stupas, providing an authentic look into Zanskari culture.

The space

The homestay is set inside a simple, traditional Zanskari home. Built in an architectural style that reflects the village’s history, the space offers guests a genuine glimpse into the daily lives of the local residents.

Bathroom

Washrooms feature a western-style toilet located just outside the guest room. During the very cold winter months, guests use a traditional dry toilet, a sustainable system optimally designed for freezing temperatures when water turns to ice.

Outdoor area

The home is surrounded by agricultural fields growing barley, wheat and peas. In the summer, the area is filled with butterflies and offers expansive mountain views. Guests can walk to the Zanskar River, visit the Kaganik site or simply take in the open landscape.

Host

Your host, Stanzin Nangsal, runs the homestay alongside her brother, a professional trekking guide. Both in their 20s, they offer a warm and welcoming environment. Stanzin manages the household and farm, while her brother readily shares his extensive knowledge about the mountains and life in the Zanskar region.
