Itinerary

Arrive at Leh airport and drive to Phyang village (around 30 mins). Check into your homestay and spend the day resting, this is important to adjust to the altitude. Keep movements minimal. In the evening, you can take a short walk around the village, meet your host family and get a feel of local life. Simple home-cooked dinner and early rest.

After breakfast, head to Leh town. Visit Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace and spend some time walking through the local market.
Later, meet Onpo (local astrologer) who will share how astronomy and Buddhism are connected in Ladakh. This is more conversational and story-based.
In the evening, return towards Phyang for a stargazing session at Cosmohub, guided by trained local women. You’ll learn about constellations, planets and listen to local stories of the sky. Dinner is served here or at the homestay. Overnight stay in Phyang Village.

Drive towards Hemis Monastery, one of the largest and most important monasteries in Ladakh. Spend time understanding its history, structure and daily life of monks.
Continue to Sakti village and check into a homestay hosted by a local family (including an army veteran).
In the evening, join the family in the kitchen, help with basic cooking, understand local ingredients and share stories over dinner. A slower, more personal day.

Drive via Wari La into Rong Valley, reaching the remote village of Kungyam. The landscape changes here ,quieter, more open and less visited.
Spend time walking through the village, observing daily life, small farms and local homes. Interact with the host family and understand how life works in such remote regions. Overnight stay in Sakti Village.
At night, step out for another stargazing session, where the skies are even clearer due to minimal light pollution. Overnight stay in Kungyam Village

Drive or walk further into the upper areas to meet Pashmina goat shepherds. Spend time with the nomadic families and observe their daily routine, herding, sorting wool and the dehairing process.
Sit with them, have tea and understand how Pashmina is sourced and how their lifestyle revolves around the land and seasons. Overnight stay in Kungyam Village

Drive back to Leh. After check-in, spend time with the Cosmohub team, understanding how local women are running astro sessions and building this initiative.
Evening is free, walk through Leh market, pick up souvenirs or just relax at a café. Overnight stay in Spituk Village.

After breakfast, transfer to Leh airport for your onward journey.

What To Expect

This journey is designed to be slow, real, and rooted in local life. The first 1–2 days are focused on acclimatization, so expect a relaxed pace with minimal physical activity. As you move further, the experience becomes more immersive traveling through remote regions, staying in villages, and spending time with local families.

You will stay in family-run homestays, where rooms are simple but clean and warm. Meals are freshly prepared using local ingredients, often grown in or around the village. You won’t find hotel-style service here. Instead, you’ll share spaces, conversations, and everyday moments with your hosts.

A big part of the experience is human interaction. You will meet farmers, hosts, nomadic families, and local women running astro sessions. You may sit with them in their kitchens, learn how food is prepared, understand farming practices, or simply share stories over tea.
